10 Security+ terms to know

SIEM
Aggregates logs, correlates events, alerts on threats. Central security visibility. Examples: Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, QRadar. SOC essential tool.
XDR
Integrates security across endpoint, network, cloud, email. Broader than EDR. Correlates threats across environment. Next-gen security platform.
MFA
Two or more authentication factors: know (password), have (token), are (biometric), somewhere (location). Much stronger than password alone. Enable everywhere.
SAML
XML standard for SSO. Exchanges authentication/authorization data. IdP authenticates, sends assertion to SP. Enterprise federation.
PKI
Framework for managing certificates. Components: CA, RA, CRL/OCSP. Enables encryption, authentication, signing. Foundation of trust.
RTO
Maximum acceptable downtime. How quickly must systems be restored? Determines DR strategy - hot/warm/cold site choice.
RPO
Maximum acceptable data loss (time). How old can recovered data be? Determines backup frequency. RPO of 1 hour needs hourly backups.
IPS
IDS that actively blocks threats. Inline deployment. Can drop malicious traffic. Risk of false positives blocking legitimate traffic.
SOAR
Automates security operations and incident response. Playbooks for common scenarios. Integrates with SIEM, ticketing. Speeds response time.
2FA
Authentication requiring exactly two different factors: something you know, have, are, or somewhere you are. Subset of MFA. Example: password + SMS code.

What's in the Security+ deck

Our Security+ flashcard decks help you memorize the essential terms, acronyms, protocols, and concepts you need to pass the SY0-701 exam. Using spaced repetition, our system shows you cards at optimal intervals to maximize retention while minimizing study time.

Spaced Repetition

Our algorithm shows cards at optimal intervals. Cards you struggle with appear more often until you master them.

Study by Domain

Focus on specific exam domains or mix all cards. Perfect for targeting weak areas identified in practice exams.

Progress Tracking

See exactly how many cards you've mastered versus those needing review. Track your memorization progress over time.

Mobile-Friendly

Review flashcards anywhere - during commute, lunch break, or waiting in line. Every minute counts.

Frequently asked questions

How do flashcards help with Security+?
Security+ requires memorizing hundreds of terms, acronyms, and concepts. Research on spaced repetition and retrieval practice consistently shows better long-term retention than rereading or cramming.
What topics are covered?
Our flashcards cover all SY0-701 domains including security concepts, threats and attacks, architecture, operations, and governance. Special focus on frequently-tested acronyms and protocols.
How long should I study flashcards daily?
15-30 minutes of focused flashcard review daily is ideal. Consistency matters more than duration. Our system optimizes which cards to show for efficient learning.
Can I use flashcards as my only study method?
Flashcards are best combined with practice questions. Use flashcards to memorize terms and concepts, then practice questions to apply that knowledge in context.

Practice Security+ PBQs

Performance-based questions (PBQs) are the hands-on simulations on the real exam. Practice them in our PBQ labs.
